I suspect the most cost effective repair is to replace the big part that goes bang. Dewey has a thread started in the gunsmithing forum

I'm going to try soldering it back together at some point, and I'm going to keep my expectations low.
I still haven't fixed my 1100, but I did horsetrade with jwire for that 1100 he had for sale on here. It ended up having a trap barrel with a stepped up rib and a knock down pin. I'll just have to clean it, and put a Montecarlo stock on it and I should be back to holding up the trap line in no time...
And if anyone hears of a 32" citori trap going for cheap, let me know...

This business of not having gun shows is really starting to irritate me, I'll tell you what.

Sounds like that Frankenstein 1100 will let you keep shooting. An 1100 step rib trap barrel is usually a damned fine barrel

Got a few windy rounds in tonight.
Shot my first 25 straight with reloads and my home repaired barrel.
I think that should be worth at least 27.

Well done! Obviously the top barrel’s POI hasn’t shifted. Feels extra sweet doing it with one's own reloads doesn’t it?

My club's annual tournament is this coming weekend, so it was all hands on deck today.
We got everything sorted out, and some practice in too.
I still haven't hit the pattern board with my repaired gun, but I shot a gopher with the bottom barrel a week ago, so I was confident it was close.
Shot a couple rounds of doubles today, and did much better that usual. I am ready to declare my repair a success.
Also, I gave up on the idea of cerakoting it, so I sprayed it down with BBQ paint. Just straight BBQ paint was too flat and dry looking, but after some g96 it looks pretty darn good.

Dewey Cox, barrel smith! Has a nice ring to it.

Manitoba lifted the COVID restrictions enough fo r the club to reopen last weekend, but i had go to the farm yesterday. All my fencing is done so now i finally have a chance to get some shooting in. Good luck in the tournament!

Father’s Day theme today. My son and i went to the club and shot some trap and skeet. I took out my dad’s old 870 and fired it for the first time in decades. Still went bang and broke some birds. Hard to believe I learned on that gun. The stock is waaaay to short, the comb way too low and the light weight delivered surprising recoil even with a 7/8 ounce reload

Side by side with my current trap gun.
