    308 Parker Hale C3 clone 100 metres.jpg

A few years ago I put together a C3 clone on a PH action, with a heavy profile Rock barrel. This is 8 rounds during break-in, at 100 metres with Winchester 147 grain FMJ ammo.

Ammo, camo and things that go "blammo".

How is your Athlon working out? Are you happy with it?

It seems to be working pretty decent so far. I just got time to mount it a couple of weeks ago. I had the rifle out at the range twice and it was easy to get zeroed and set the zero stops on it. I am going out today or tomorrow to try out a few different kinds of ammo at 100 and 200 yards to see what works good with the rifle. I did notice the elevation turret was a bit sticky when i bore sighted it but that seems to have gone away. Could have been some grease in the turrel maybe? This is my first optic that is not a 3x9 hunting scope or red dot so I am learning as I go.

Well, I figured I should update this since it's been a while. After trying a few types of ammo, I found my savage likes either 175gr Federal Gold Metal Match or Sako Precision TRG 175gr ammo. The sako ammo groups are just slightly better. I had it out last summer mostly just shooting out to 300 yards just working on my technique and using the scope. This summer I am going to stretch it out a bit more and see how I make out.
