It's a great feeling to get out after a long and extended break.

I still haven't busted a clay this year! Heading down to Pincher creek next Sunday to see if I can't break a couple.

If Dewey posts this Fall about having a whopper of a buck in his sights and missing the shot...just saying, lol.
"It is an absolute truism that law-abiding, armed citizens pose no threat to other law-abiding citizens."

Ammo, camo and things that go "blammo".

I have shot 25 straight, and after the round is over shot at a gopher just standing there and missed it.
Why does the rest of the country get first dibbs on half my income?

Well this season just won’t improve. Made it out to the club the weekend before last. Wind was so strong it almost pushed me off the post a few times. Wound up shooting skeet with the 28 gauge and managed a 22 and a 24. Dropped the last bird on that last round or I would have had my second 25 straight in skeet with a 28 gauge. Since then I’m on the sidelines. Caught the damn Covid bug and was sick for a week. I feel mostly better but keep testing as positive. Going to have to miss the skeet shoot in Brandon that Mark II posted on.

Found some primers locally so I’m going to start reloading and use up what components I have and with a bit of luck I can stock back on some later this winter

We had our club trap shoot yesterday. It was a fairly nice weather day with a little light wind.

I started fairly well with only dropping 1 bird up to the 3rd station of singles (16 yard) with my 1100 when it all went to crap. I pulled the trigger and got a click. Ejected the shell and not a mark on the primer. Put it back in and it functioned. Next bird, same click. Not a mark on the primer. Grabbed a backup shell, same thing...click. I asked the line if we could pause for 1 minute to get my backup Citori. They let me and now I'm mad with the 1100. Finished that round with a 24 and was still mad on the second round of singles I hit all 25.

After that round, I went and took the 1100 apart and found that the breech bolt buffer split at the firing pin retaining pin and backed out not letting the hammer hit the pit.

I was still a little cheesed at the 1100 that I when fairly hyper focused on the birds for the two rounds of handicap (which I was now shooting from the 25 yard line from my singles score) and doubles.

When it was all tallied up, I did end up winning the club champion high singles and with all of the anger with the 1100, club champion high over all (by 1 bird). I could not stop laughing because all I need is more anger in my life to shoot well .

On a side note, does anyone know where I can get a breech bolt buffer in Canada? According to Numrich, it is item 14 in the schematic with part number 99440A. h ttps://www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/remington/shotguns-rem/1100/parts-list-rem1100

I have found a few in the US but they will not ship this part to Canada.

Have you called Western Gun Parts? They usually carry tons of stuff like this that's available through Numrich.

Thanks Ben. I have not called WGP yet as normally the minimum order threshold has kept me away from them. Also, this part is out of stock at Numrich. Most places that I have found are also marking the part as obsolete.

I am hoping to find one(or two) before I will try and make one.

Update: Just got off the phone with WGP, all sold out.

    Great shooting.
    Shame about your 1100.
Everyone's advice to me about the problems with my 1100 was "get used to it".
I'll have a look in my spare parts.

Thanks Dewey. It was a great day and I did get all of my anger out on the little orange disks.

I did buy a second 1100 at auction just for this reason. Too bad all of the parts were at home yesterday. I am just looking to repair and replace as they wear out. Also, from everything that I am reading is when the breech bolt buffer is changed that the firing pin spring should be changed as well. Everyone laughs at me with my 1100 with my synthetic stock with 'custom' comb but it fits me very well. The setup says that my head is way too high but if I put the bird at the bead, it will break. You just need to ignore that you are looking at the rib from the receiver to the bead.

With Remington parts drying up, I was hoping to pick something up that will be a direct replacement.

My 1100 has been relatively free from issues. I did remove the magazine and it is just a single shot with auto extraction. My shell catcher is weak and is not stopping them from flying. I may look at one of the spring ones instead of the clip on. Other than this, it has worked very well with all of my reloads.

If I can't find the parts, I am hoping that I can make it out of delrin.
