What a dilemma. Choices, choices, choices. We have a .308, a 6.5 Swedish, a .270 and a 30.06.

I guess that since we are constructing a weapon that will defend the Halls of Valhalla, the 6.5 Swede will be the way to go.

A 120 grain 6.5mm bullet fired out of a Garand at 2800 fps will produce a free recoil energy of about 11 foot pounds. A 150 grain bullet fired from a Garand will produce a free recoil energy of about 18 foot pounds.

Are we not supposed to pick a caliber that would be readily available? Not much of a chance of picking up some *dropped 6.5 Swede

Cant find any decent 30.06 Garand food either. Where does one find those cases of Federal .308 now as well. My evil brother from another mother has a recipe for making brass. The components are just as difficult to hunt down as well. Originally Posted by Sabio
