    218. So…87-ish percent retention? Not bad for a chunk of lead that took out a rib and clipped the shoulder blade going in.

Good buddy and his daughter both nailed brutes this morning. They’re coming into rattling hard.

*Story correction, daughter got the one this morning. Sent me multiple pics of the same deer from all sorts of different angles, and some confusing texts. He just bagged a beaut this evening.

    I shot a gopher today.
I have never done that in November before.

I'm seeing some real nice bucks, all mulies unfortunately. One trotted to within 10 yards of me yesterday as I lay in the open on a ridge so I know the cover scent and snow camo are working. Other than that the only excitement has been a field mouse trying to climb up the inside pant leg of my camo fleece.

My brother in law is coming down this weekend to fill his whitetail tag, so hopefully I can get out again this season.

Woke up to this fella standing about 75yds from my front step. He’s new to my yard herd, there was a tiny fork horn with the girls last week. I didn’t have the presence of mind to grab a picture until they’d meandered to about 400yds.

No buck tag this year, but two of those does have a limited amount of time left. A 16yo 2nd year hunter poked his 2nd and 3rd deer in my windbreak about 10 days ago and his Dad harvested his first moose the afternoon before. You couldn’t wipe their smiles off with a sledgehammer. It was awesome.

I love hunting season, for the unique experiences, and I just had one of the most unique ones.

A new hunter I’d never met but have heard of just came into my yard with a whitetail buck in the truck.

We had a visit outside and then went into the shop so I could hear the story of the hunt over a toddy.

First year hunter, new PAL holder, first morning afield, one perfect boiler room shot and a first whitetail.

Now the cool part, early 70s retired nurse(nursing professor) and she hates trudeau as much or more than anyone in the politics section in here!

I can’t wait until she returns tonight so we can skin out her first deer that’s now hanging in my shop.

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again “you meet some of the most unique people on the planet through hunting”

Great week off grid and unplugged from society. Mildest deer hunting season in years.

Well I completely missed out on rifle season, had some obligations the first weekend and was sick as a dog (still am) for the last two. This pic is allegedly floating around one of the MB hunting forums though….
