    Smile ShotKam Thoughts?

So, what do y’all think of the ShotKam system? In for a penny in for a pound in this game but can you truly improve after viewing footage, is it a proper training tool? Or spend on a couple three lessons?

Why is the smiley in the thread title?!?

I have, basically, ShotCam 1. It has 1080p video and good sound, but video is on a SD micro card only: no WiFi or Bluetooth or such.

TL : DR - If it is for actual shot analysis get a GoPro. More versatility in all recording.

The only real place of use is with a mount onto a handgun rail for competition shooting analysis. With handguns you can see when a probable flinch on the trigger, a bad magazine change, or something else is messing you up as you can analyze the recording. Works even better with a GoPro head mount and syncing the two videos to play side by side on screen. The key to this is how close the target is since the close target allows for any real target shot analysis to happen. For shotgun and CQB rifle it can help with 3-gun matches for the same reasoning as with a handgun.

On the shotgun its useless for skeet, clays, hunting and such. In my opinion using a shotgun is about lead, smooth swing, follow through and other parameters that I found a head mounted camera is better. I use the ShotCam on a mount over my ear on the same side as my cheek weld because its smaller than the GoPro. Figuring out the angle is tough because it will face up and across the forehead when not shooting, but needs to be just above the bore when shooting.

For rifle at anything more than 50 yards it's completely useless for doing anything but recording to watch with friends: a GoPro will have more use. For that you need a TactiCam on a scope to really get a proper view of what you are doing.

I vote for lessons from a recognized instructor. Shot cam tells you where you missed. An instructor can tell you why you missed
In spite of all of man's grandiose achievements, he owes his continued existence to six inches of topsoil and the fact that it rains.

Just a gimmick. Take something readily available and market it as a firearm accessory and double the price

Ya, only brought it up because one of the project directors on my circuit swears it’s the best training tool of all time but I never dug into anything. I have been in contact with this fellow, $150/hr or 3 full training lessons for the cost of their entry level model. Gonna book for early January……
