^ My comment for all these videos : "Liberal government policies at work. Now stop complaining, you voted for it..."

I'm sure my YT feed will soon explode with butthurt Lieberal NPCs, telling me how it's primarily due to Climate Change and also because it's somehow Harper's fault.

...nearby businesses don’t have any major problems with it.
Wifey and I went to see a locksmith a couple weeks back, his shop is 100 yds from this tent city.
I used to work in downtown K-town, 30 years ago. It was seedy then, before the crack came.
This was my first time downtown in almost 5 years and found it incredible...
the sheer number of people wandering around zombified.
Buddy wouldn't even let us in, he talked with me while holding the door open a few inches.
And talk! A mile a minute, while I watched as his eyes bounced all over the place.
I've seen that sort of hyper-vigilant behaviour from meth heads. No major problems, my arse.
The old bugger looked like a heart attack was catching up with him.
Watching that walkabout video of Philly, all I see behind the pathetic victims is shuttered businesses.
I wonder if the situation in Kitchener will be allowed to deteriorate to that extent.

Hey, if there isn’t an adequate homeless shelter in the area…..just leave some empty booze bottles and needles scattered around outside so it looks legit.

Woman dies on LRT train in Edmonton, riders thought she was sleeping

The Western Standard has learned a woman died on an LRT train in Edmonton on Thursday evening.

    Passengers assumed she was sleeping.

"Around 5 p.m. while I was there all trains stopped due to a medical emergency on a Century Park train and everyone on that train had to get off," a witness told the Western Standard.

Another witness also claimed that after the body was removed from the train, it went back into service and wasn't cleaned. The witness also believes the woman overdosed.

"I'm able to confirm that at approximately 5:15 p.m., Thursday, police responded to the report of a sudden death on the LRT," Cheryl Sheppard from the Edmonton Police Service said.

"The death appears to be non-criminal in nature and as such, I’m not able to provide any additional information."

Alberta sheriffs are now being deployed into downtown Edmonton by the UCP to try and get a handle on a growing surge of crime and social disorder.

A 15-week pilot partnership between the Alberta Sheriffs and the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) will begin in late February.

More boots on the ground will allow EPS to increase the number of patrols and expand its reach to more high-priority neighbourhoods. The UCP said the pilot will help keep communities safe by deterring criminal activity and building public trust with officers.

“Edmontonians and visitors alike should feel safe in their communities and Alberta’s government is working to make sure they are safe by putting more eyes and ears in neighbourhoods where they’re needed most, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services Mike Ellis said at a Wednesday press conference.

"A larger officer presence is a direct request from EPS, Chinatown, and other downtown organizations. Partnerships and collaborations like this are going to play a key role as the task force continues to address complex issues like public safety, homelessness, addiction and mental health.”

In recent months, some say the homeless and drug addicts have taken over the system and caused complete disorder and apparent confusion.

"Late yesterday afternoon, a fatal medical incident occurred on a Capital Line train. The train was taken out of service and cleaned before re-entering service. Normal operations resumed at 7:30 p.m.," Carrie Hotton-MacDonald, branch manager Edmonton Transit Service said.

"Our thoughts are with the individual’s friends and family. We appreciate the work of first responders and our staff who responded at the event. City of Edmonton staff have been offered critical incident support, as well as peer support."

This is the same task force that our sack of shit mayor complained he wasn't consulted on. The f*cker-upper wants to talk shit about how all of this is the Province's problem, well here you go buckwheat. Get out of the way.

Edmonton social issue task force unveiled by UCP, but Sohi says city was shut out

The Alberta government is promising action on homelessness, addiction and public safety in Edmonton through the creation of a new task force, though skeptics remain unconvinced it will deliver as promised.

Four provincial cabinet ministers were among those to announce the creation of the Edmonton Public Safety and Community Response Task Force on Monday.

The task force aims to build on the province’s recovery-oriented system of addiction and mental health care using resources from provincial and municipal governments as well as local partner agencies.

This is not about studying the issue. This is about actually taking action,” said committee chairman and Public Safety and Emergency Services Minister Mike Ellis.

“This is a co-ordinated approach. We will be taking action.”

That action includes a series of initiatives including increasing addiction treatment capacity, providing addiction and mental health treatment programs in correctional centres, creating a hybrid health and police hub, expanding medical detox services, building harm reduction and recovery outreach teams and expanding access to emergency shelter space.

In introducing the task force, Municipal Affairs Minister Rebecca Schulz said it would address “the most urgent social issues” facing Edmontonians.

“We have heard loud and clear from municipalities across Alberta about the need for a collaborative approach and we are committing to that starting right here in Edmonton.”

Funding for Tuesday’s announcement comes in part from $187 million in funding towards fighting homelessness the province announced at the start of October.

The province is spending $63 million over the next two years towards increasing access to addiction services as well as $19 million towards combating homelessness.

“These initiatives are the start,” said Mental Health and Addiction Minister Nicholas Milliken.

“We are going to move quickly and we will not stop until these initiatives are operationalized.”

Seniors, Community and Social Services Minister Jeremy Nixon said he is “very optimistic” the task force would make progress on long-term solutions to issues around homelessness and addiction.

    ‘We need action’
The 12-person task force met for the first time Tuesday afternoon.

It is composed of ministers Nixon, Ellis, Milliken and Schulz as well as Chief Billy Morin of the Enoch Cree Nation and Chief Isaac Laboucan-Avirom of the Woodland Cree First Nation.

They are joined by two representatives from Alberta Health Services and the CEO of Homeward Trust, an organization that provides support for those experiencing homelessness in Edmonton.

Edmonton police Chief Dale McFee is also on board as are Edmonton city councillors Sarah Hamilton and Tim Cartmell.

City manager Andre Corbould and Fire Chief Joe Zatylny have also been invited, pending city council’s approval.

Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi said while he welcomed the new efforts to battle long-standing issues, the city was not made a part of the process.

“I was not made aware of it. We were not in any way included in the creation of the task force. It is a decision that the province has made,” he said.

He said Hamilton and Cartmell were “hand-picked by the UCP government,” noting their participation was not approved by councillors, something he said would have to happen if Corbould was to be part of the task force.

Get out of the way, timid progressive ineffectual person...there's a social experiment to end and a city to save.

Winnipegger's can also take advantage of that particular odour as it permeates their sensitivities by driving through the intersection of Higgins and Main Street. The smell of freshly deposited urine on hot pavement in July is really nauseating !!

That particular location is where their "summer residences" are. When it gets colder, they move to their indoor locations ( a.k.a. bus shelters ).
