Feel sorry for the rest of you in Canada, my peas and spinach are up, on the other hand, I'm going to have to mow the lawn this coming weekend, so maybe a tradeoff.

Cool 2012Cvoguy ya work with what ya got. Guess ya can't take over one of the flower beds down below? Man if food was as cheap here, as you buy it, I am not sure if I would plant anything.
The corner of 1 raised bed is peaking out of the 94 inches of snow we got this year.
We have yet to start plants.(peppers soon, tomato's mid April)
I don't know where to plant the seedlings what with the construction of the new digs and the comfort of the present digs.
Any videos of how to rip up a hay meadow to make a garden? My biggest garden was 110'X60'(6600sq ft).
Today it is 310sq ft. And still quit adequate.
Life is too complicated some times.

There's a place not too far from here, but they're not open for the season yet. I want them to mix me up about 3 yards of 1-black topsoil, 1-peat moss, 1-compost. I'm planning on grabbing 3 x 4cu ft bags of vermiculite to mix in with the upper 1/2 of the beds.

I just went to Homo Depot and blew $72 to get a tap on a post, right by those raised beds. I'm scanning around Amazon for drip irrigation kits and a timer. That stuff is pretty cheap now. I don't mind doing the weeding, but if the things are self watering and I don't have to worry about them if I leave for a week or two, all the better.

Hay meadow?

Call in a farmer. They’ll be done in a fraction of the time of you doing it, even if you had the same gear. Initial setup is where to spend, ongoing is where DIY can take over.

Plow, harrow(s) or maybe just a PTO tiller. Could be quite the root system under there.

Depending on age of the meadow since last turned, rocks might have grown back.

The new garden spot was cleared 20 years ago to make a hay meadow. Few rocks if any. Mow it down to the dirt and get it rototilled. 36 acres to play but the garden will be 30'X40' with a rail fence around it.
Can't wait to get cracking.
