Yup. I’m designated a “hoarder” by my wife at least 3 times a week. She’s probably correct.

I don’t see any reason not to hoard seeds, acres worth of plants can be stored in an ammo can. If kept cool and dry they can be kept viable for years….decades. Someday we may be damn glad to have them, and everything else in our stashes.

I save seeds as well, way more than I could ever use, I really like all the different varieties of tomtoes that we grow here. I also dry out probably thousands of beans for seed and cooking, I save enough dried beans for next years seed and the rest we store in mason jars and if I am making chilli, stew or certain soups I boil the beans to soften them and then add them to whichever dish I am preparing. I prefer them in chilli to canned beans.

I hope you're (we're) wrong about our stashes, but we're in uncharged territory here. Trudeau has way more than doubled our national debt in an insanely short period of time. Given some time, I can make almost any piece of machinery, and I can repair almost anything. What no one can do is breath life into something that might be as small as a grain of sand, so that they can put it in the ground with some water and have it grow them food. I don't think it's unreasonable to have 10 times as many seeds as a person thinks they'll need. I also see no reason to ever throw away seeds no matter how many new ones you get from current crops. As long as there's some viability there, they might save you someday.
