    Savage Arms ... Handguns

Checking out their site and noticed they now have 1911s and some kind of sub compact handguns coming out.
The 1911s are listed for over $1k USD msrp, so they better be well made for that price - tons and tons of competition in that market.

Maybe we'll see them up here some day

    $1300ish for the non-railed ones.
I was hoping to pair a 9mm 1911 with my 45 before the freeze but nothing reasonable came up.

There is a pile of competition in that price range south of the boarder. I figured they would have gone with a bit lower of a price point. Next time I head south, I will have to see if I can take a look at one. Their compact line also looks interesting also.

Anyone see that Henry has a revolver out now also?

If you really, really want one just put your order in at the nearest reserve bordering the USA! That's how the homies get their new sideways gats I hear!

They also went woke a few years back and removed all images of their namesake logo with the Indian head from their website, packaging, manuals, firearms and promotional media.

Apparently they decided that the word "Savage" and an Indian for a logo was racist?

Even though the name Savage was from their founder, Arthur Savage, and the Indian logo was because a native chief liked or wanted their rifles and was willingly paid to be their almost 100 year mascot.

Savage Arms claimed that in 1919, Arthur Savage was approached by Chief Lame Deer to buy rifles for his tribe in New York. Lame Deer offered Savage to use his image as its logo in exchange for discounted rifles for his tribe and an annual fee.

As of 2018, Savage Arms was still paying the annual fee. But after being accused in the media of being racist for using the name Savage and also having an Indian as their logo, savage stopped paying the royalty fee to the tribe and removed the Indian head logo to stop any further criticism.

Current president obviously lacks balls if you save to the mob despite a cool origin story

Or maybe they were really anti-native and looking for an excuse to drop the logo and quit paying the family?
