It finally looks like summer is here and the shooting season is well under way.

We have a few things coming up that are worth noting.

We have the casino fundraiser coming up August 11 & 12th for the Alberta Shooters. In the past we have had to give up our share of the proceeds by filling our spots with volunteers from other shooting associations. Thanks to those that have volunteered. If you have already volunteered, or have come available for the 11th and 12th, please fill out the attached form. I would very much like to overwhelm the AFSS with our volunteers this year if we can. We get paid per volunteer. All expenses are covered including meals and mileage, so please do not let that stand in your way. If you require accommodation, that will be covered as well.

2013 World English Sporting Clays Championship is coming up in Galt in just 10 weeks. If you have any desire to go, please contact the club. Galt Sportsmenís Club need bookings to help with their preparations. Early registration is the least we can do. We have confirmed entries from Ireland, England, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden. Of course the US will be represented as well. I hope you all take advantage of the opportunity to shoot with some of the best in the world, especially as they are coming to us.

Kent/Gamebore has signed on as a sponsor and contributed to the cost of the medals for this year, thanks to Dan and his crew. They are also the named sponsor of the International Super Sporting event at the worlds. Say thanks in whatever way you feel appropriate.

Alberta Provincials are in Lloydminster this year in August. Please call the club, Hidden Ridge, and let them know that you plan to attend. It helps with their planning.

I hope everyone enjoys the class updates that Bill has been sending out, I know I look for my name there before I look at the website.

Please feel free to send any pictures you take at the shoots. It would be nice to see some more in the gallery on the website.

Enjoy the summer shooting season, and stay safe.
