First shots with my Savage Model 25, Plus 6.5-20x Leupold

So, I only fired 9 shots. Not much to get a big story out of it, just wanted to fire a few shots and see what kind of results I'd get.
I was actually out shooting the 7615p primarily, and the barrel was pretty hot so I returned home and picked up the Savage(and some better ammo) to give a quick test to.
    Anyways, I fired 3, 3shot groups @ 100yrds with Winchester 55gr Silvertip. Basically they were 1.6", 1.5", and 1.4"
I was sitting in the bed of the truck using the tailgate as a rest, and it was not very comfortable.

I know, I know, 'meh' and I agree. But I know it's me, and not the rifle, the 3rd shot was always a called flyer.
I'm really thinking with more practice, and a better shooting platform the groups would easily be under an inch, and that's something new to me.

Good start. Your thoughts on a) the trigger; b) the Leupold?

Scope is great, 20x and clear, but it's eye relief definitely has no give - you got it right or you don't.
The trigger seems great. Not much to say about it, gets the job done and I never had to think much of it.

It all looks pretty shiny, is the gun brand new?
If so, putting the first three shots, of factory ammo, into 1.6" is nothing to sneeze at.
Even a back-pack on the tailgate might provide a bit better rest.
It'll be interesting to see results when you get a chance to be comfortable while shooting it.
If nothing else, it sure looks nice

I bought it used, but it definitely wasn't shot much, if at all by the previous owner.

    Drop Winchester.
It's only good for plinking but for accuracy it stinks and I have yet to see any rifle I have shot like it. Try any other ammo like...

I like this silvertip stuff, buddy uses it exclusively for yotes as he doesn't reload.

Plan is to work up a 60gr vmax load whenever my reloading gear order comes in though.
