Ive gone and "Pulled" the trigger again... SKS Refinishing

Well I was told that the obsession does not stop at one, and darn were they right! After my shotgun, came the bolt action rifle, now the SKS is in the mail! I got a great deal for it and it should be here in a week or two! Ill post pics when it arrives, but im told it is a dark wood laminate stock, 1955 Russian model, un-issued, with all the accessories it usually comes with, still in cosmo. I got it for 179.99 with free shipping from back east. I cant wait for it to get here!!!

Edit - Refinishing the stock on page 3

Congratulations on your newly honed sense of fiscal acuity I love my SKSs, great piece of history, solid little rifle, awesome for introducing new shooters.

Fair Warning: SKS's are like Lay's potato chips...and because of the ammo price they're also a gateway gun to firearms such as the CZ858...

I didn't, I boiled 'em after dousing them in Brakleen, never had a problem...I used the brake cleaner the first couple times I shot them, and no more cosmo came out, BUT, I don't think my bolts were as bad as some I've heard of on-line? So I will say YMMV.

No its not needed, after you boil the bolt or use brake cleaner just shake it and if it makes a rattling sound you know the firing pin is moving so it won't slam fire. If the firing pin won't move disassembly isn't hard.
