I'm Going Shooting - Who's In?

One of the sites I'm on has a sub forum of something along these lines.

You list the date/time/location and actually MEET some of these internet people you speak with. Shoot the **** in REAL LIFE, on the range and heck, maybe over some REAL DRINKS.

Might help minimize the keyboard warrior-ing by putting a face on the people behind the keyboards. Not everyone is game for a social event like a dinner/drinks thing, as I understand some of you boys are shy, but we all have this one thing in common. You can make this as social or as solitary as you like.

Could be good for bringing newbies together with old hats, without the formalities of arranging a one-on-one mentorship. Could be good for members of one range to try out other ranges without needing to buy an associate membership just to try the place out. Could be good to discover a new place in the great outdoors to shoot they've never been before.

The idea was for members to post their organized meet and greets and/or fun shoots....

ya, i never would have looked in there for this kind of informal stuff. "i'm going shooting" is far from organized - bit more on the spontaneous, hey why not, i'm free and in the area sort of thing.

possibility for a name change or a reconsideration?

Perhaps but then we may loose out on people finding the fun shoots... Right now we have an organized kid fun shoot, a military fun shoot, your womens fun shoot.. etc. I wanted to call the forum Organized Fun Shoots because I believe that is a pretty familiar term and to be honest I hear about more fun shoots then I do the competitive shoots.

Right now prolly OT is the best, but Im going to brainstorm this...
