Hello Members,

I have a RPAL, NRPAL that is due for renewal in October.
Owner of 2 handguns and a shotgun.
I am leaving Canada next month.

What are my options to give up guns and the license?

Please advise. Appreciate all responses in advance.

Thanks,

There is no reason to give up your licence. Just don't renew it.
Sell the shotgun here or the other common places.
Businesses can still buy restricted items.
Maybe a gun range near you needs a couple range guns?
Of course you won't get anything near what they are worth.

why can't you take them with you?

are you leaving for good, if not why can't you ask a licensed friend to hold them for you until you return?

Depends on where you are going I suppose.

If you are going to New Zealand, you might be screwed: best to sell the shotgun here and try to get the handguns to a gun store or range somehow.

if you are going to the USA or even some other parts of the world: you may be able to import them if they are worth it to you (sentimental or cash value), and sell the shotgun unless it to has value.

To ensure these weapons are safely and permanently removed from our communities they must be surrendered to the Gov without delay.

Do not say such things, even in jest!

If you are forced to surrender a firearm, strip it to the receiver and send that in only

After beating the receiver into a useless hunk of scrap metal.

As Uncle Leo said, SELL 'EM ! ! Don't consider the "Gov" option !
