Is there any chance the admin wants to add a feature? On other forums, I like the use of the Recent Threads pane on a home page. Have a look here: http://www.vbadvanced.com/. Take away the vBadvanced Products pane and I find you get a good overview of the entire forum. I use the New Posts button quite a bit and the New Posts button works nicely too, but the Recent Threads pane is a nice clean feature. Just a thought.

We do have the 'what's new' button - doesn't show threads you've already checked out since the last visit but it shows all the other recent threads. Did you mean you just wanted it to be automatic when you logged in? (I cheat and bookmarked the 'what's new' page and just go straight there, works pretty good)
