Has the way we post Youtube links changed? Any links I post don't show as the actual video, just the link?

When the software was changed months ago, URLs without 'player_embedded' ended up auto converting to embedded. (personally I found that inconvenient, because I often post youtubes as quote source which I want as a link, but not embedded)
But last week or so, that disappeared so once again if you just post a URL, you get only the URL.
But if you surround the URL in [ video ] tags, you get the video:
i.e.
[ video ] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vST6hVRj2A [ / video ]
becomes:
