Black powder starter stickie for new bp shooters

I am just getting into BP shooting.Had to ask lots of questions but it would be nice if a experienced member could get stickied, stuck to the wall on the basic equipment that a person needs to start off in bp. From start to finish,a nice firing list and maybe a quick explanation as to what all is involved and why its needed. This is a new site so make it friendly for new bp shooters also.I know there isnt a big following for BP...but the first time I shot them I was hooked on it.Just the fun factor in it is well worth the time...Just a thought ..

Would also like to see some actual feedback (not "opinion") on those that use traditional blackpowders and from those using the alternatives such as "white hots". Seems like an interesting diversion from centre-fire but so many options out there.
"It is an absolute truism that law-abiding, armed citizens pose no threat to other law-abiding citizens."

Ammo, camo and things that go "blammo".

It's no fun punning with a Kleptomaniac... they keep taking things, literally.

I use traditional MLs, not in-lines, I use real Black Powder, and soft cast conicals, I had an accurate Lyman .50 cal., but now have a Lyman .54 percussion. In my gun the "plains" bullet is very accurate and at 450 grains, hits hard, when backed with 80 grs. of Graf's (Shuetzen) FFG......There's not much to it, after 4 shots I have to swab the bore but just need a dry patch as the lube on the bullet keeps things "soft", while nowhere near the power of the big Sharps, recoil is nowhere near that level, actually quite pleasant. Clean up is not alot of work and makes for a nice afternoon of shooting and I'm usually ready for the early big game seasons.

Are Black Powder Cartridge comments welcome or is this thread limited to muzzle loading ??

Hows about 3 stickies for starters....one for black powder old muzzle loaders, one for the newer in line stuff and one for bp cartridges beginners. It might keep the confusion to a minimum..
