Hello, I’m new to this forum. I recently purchased a restricted firearm on October 6th. I went to the RCMP website to try to check the status of the firearm transfer, so I entered the information required but it says no registration application was found. Can someone advise me what I need to do? I just want to check the status. Also, I was told that when I pick up the firearm I have to bring a case and trigger lock. I want to know if I should buy a hard case, do you think a soft case is fine for a restricted rifle? Thanks!
Hello. I have a few questions

If they didn't give you the reference number don't worry you can still call and they can look it up by your PAL.
Like Robert said a soft case is fine IF you can somehow lock it.HOPING SANER MINDS REIGN IN 2025

There's a 28 day waiting period for new applications too. Remember that none of the process has anything to do with being convenient or easy for you. And logic does not apply.
There's no requirement for a hard case. Isn't a horrible idea though.

Is this 28 day waiting period a new thing? Or something specific to your region? Otherwise, last I checked, the 28 day waiting period is for new applications for a Possession and Acquisitions License... Not for firearms transfer.
Firearms transfer is usually much quicker (depending on province of course).
I've only bought one restricted firearm and it took under a week for them to send me the registration so I could go pick it up. (I paid for the gun on a saturday and then by friday, I had the email saying it was in my name and could go pick it up.)
As for transporting a restricted firearm:
- the case the firearm is in must be locked,
- the firearm itself must be secured with either a trigger or cable lock,
- the firearm must be unloaded,
- you must have your RPAL on you. (As per C-42 it's your ATT.)

28 days is for getting your pal.
transfer is on the whims of CFO/RCMP. It usually takes longer for your first restricted as they need to do the extra paper work to issue you the ATT. They may also verify that you have a range.Member of CWTF, NDA, CSSA, OFAH
