I thought maybe I had messed around with the internet options thing to much and ended up blocking them. I have reset them to default, changed this site to a trusted site and set the security to the most open, still nada. I am using IE, no I don't want to change (yet).

I have the Adobe Flash add on turned on, I don't see any other add on's that would apply.

I has to be a setting somewhere, ActiveX control or something else?

I have the same with IE, although I have my settings kind of restrictive with IE.
When I hit play, it says it failed.

So I right mouse over the video, copy the URL to the clipboard, and open the video in a separate window (usually Firefox). It's a bit of a chore, but it works.

RB, I can't even see the video or URL, the only reason I know there is one is by the empty space in the post.

I'm no computer expert, so I don't know how much help I'll be...but...Can you give us a link to a post/thread with a video you can't see ? Then we can try it. If it works for us, then it's something on your end.

This is Drache's bear thread, others have hit the like button, so I know there is something there.

Edit; I downloaded Firefox and I can see it on that browser. Just an IE thing I guess. Maybe I'll start using that.

I just tried it with both Firefox and Explorer. Both worked fine. Whatever is happening, it's in your computer.....and here's where my problem solving usefulness hit's a brick wall.

I have to ask if you're still using IE what operating system are you using? MS has discontinued IE. Its successor is called Edge.

Another thing you can do with the forum is "Reply with quote" that'll show you the URL. (Just don't subsequently hit "Post Quick Reply".)

All the stat counters I look at still have IE being used more than Edge, usually by several times. Probably lots of people running Windows 7.
Usually Chrome is far in the lead lately, except on tablets where Safari leads.
Firefox recently ended support for Windows XP and Vista, long after Microsoft stopped.

I never liked any version of IE though they did get successively better with standards compliance. Still they never achieved that until 10. Edge is a decent browser. I use it daily. I don't have a modern Mac so I don't know how Safari has kept up. I avoid Chrome due to Google being slimy the past several years. I'm very fond of FF even though I no longer use it. I do go back to it often, particularly for development work.

But back to IE. All versions have their limitations with version 11 (the last) being the best. Nonetheless, if I were on a system where I couldn't replace IE11 with Edge I'd use FF instead.

I have Windows 7 Pro on the work machine (the one I'm on right now). I refuse to move to Windows 8, I've seen some of the others in the company switched and they hate it. The IE is version 11.

I guess I will just flip to FF on this machine.

Totally off topic, but since it's my thread...

I know there are better search engines than the all mighty Google, and we had a thread a while back listing a bunch, but i can't find it.

Any suggestions?

Yes I agree. 7 is better than 8 and 8.1 by a mile. Go straight to 10 or stay on 7. Though commercial support for 7 is (or has?) ending.

Either way definitely move to FireFox. Don’t think you will regret it.

internet exploder? people still use that junk?
it is basically the only supported browser at work.

once you have the url... you can try and open directly in your browser. If it doesn't work then it is a browser/work issue.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll run with the Firefox until the IT Nazis find out I added something to their machine.
