EE replies?

This is just for discussion.:)

There are other sites that allow replies to EE ads. I've alway thought that to be interesting. Now, I understand on a busy buy/sell forum this would bump posts to the top and others off the first page, but is there any other reason to NOT allow replies? I mean, at this point all the ads are on page 1.;)

I'll be putting some stuff in the EE once I get off my butt, there may be questions and it would be easier to post answers for everybody than answer a pile of PMs with the same answers.

Discuss. Or Kibosh if thats what the owners want......:D
 
alot of stupid questions get asked, alot of trolls, saying i seen it cheaper somewhere else trying to drive down price, as well as alot of trolls say stupid things in general, on other replies from some of the stuff i have seen.
keeps the Ad clean, and to the point.
 
It's allowed on guitarscanada.com, and the site is so well moderated that there is NEVER EVER an issue.
 
Albertaoutdoorsman has it as well, and there doesn't seem to be problems there either.
 
The other issue is that why an AD is replied to it bumps it to the top, which could unfairly get one ad an advantage over another

Joe mentioned that, but the fact he is stating is that currently we have no worries of things before unfairly bumped since there is only a handful of ads on the entire EE

True, But if we allow it now, then change it later people may get mad
 
I kind of like replys on EE sometimes you get answers to your questions without having to wait for a reply! Two bits worth from the peanut gallery!
 
Since it is being discussed here I will weigh in. I don't see a problem with allowing replies, as long as the forum is heavily moderated. There would have to be new rules and guidelines. No posts bitching about price, 'you can get it new for $xxx' , or lowballing etc. However PMs are the way to go IMO.
 
Yeah, no public negotiating 'I'll give you $200 and a box of shot up used targets' in the replies, just questions about the specific items, maybe the odd referral ('I bought X well packed made my wife horny, great seller!') while we get the trader rating thing going.
 
The thing about replies I like is that you can see instantly the "first one gets it" that keeps the seller honest and other buyers know if there's been action on it and if it's spoken for, etc etc... It just helps make the ad "real time"

Also inregards to the ad being unfairly bumped, I say f that, the seller should be rewarded for a good ad and selling popular items. ALSO I don't think it will be a big problem anyway, if the ads got action odds are its guna sell fast, then the ad will be removed anyway...


I think it would make the EE a lot more interactive but most importantly set us apart from the rest of the competition, this could give our forum an edge..

Yeah bumping is a non concern up to the point you have dozens a week in any particular forum. Even then, how much effort does it take to flip the page. I say non-issue.

I agree with 50, Limit what they say
 
Again if we wanna grow we gotta be different we gotta offer things that the others don't...

Ok I'm guna go out on a limb here and say the mods and admin will come up with some rules and guidlines on this and make it happen for you guys.
 
Well we decided to do it I set it up if you post other than what is allowed you will get 1 warning then an infraction for each occurrence
