Everything works.
Just a bit slow. "What's New At GoC" 4 to 10 seconds. etc.
Been like this for a few days now.

(and of course, this post is suddenly instantaneous to post :) )
 
Likely due to all the post that aren't needed. We all watch the news.
 
Database errors this morning, working now but slower than JT, sorry I am wrong, no way JT could reload clear thoughts in 5 to 10 seconds.
 
GoC speed is just fine (i.e. quick) at the moment. (navigation, posting, queries -- all good)
 
It's slow again.
navigation : 1 minute between pages.
 
looks like we are having issues yet again with DNS attacks.
working with our IT to get it sorted out.
 
DNS attacks offend me, I demand JT ban all DNS attacks! If you disagree you're a racist.

It was taking over a minute to load each page at 4am this morning. I have Telus 300gb/s internet and everything else was loading almost instantly like normal. Now at 9am, everything seems to be loding normally again.

Same internet speeds, same longer loading times.
 
Is there a way guests could have limited access to encourage them to join and eliminate bots?

Yeah, but we'd have to make all the various sections private and have everyone apply for access...so no, not really. As far as the bots go...theyre an internet plague, and not just here.
 
I'm guessing there isn't any configuration setting to enable something like that. Set pages to view-able for logged in users vs not logged in users.

Also I'm on here on my iPad and 2 PC. So there is like 3 of me.

GoC has been fine for me these past few days. No problems at all. Quick.
 
The more "guests" that are viewing, the more jwire can charge for advertising. Its genius.
Someone make a scooby doo meme where they say "let's just see who these bots really are", and they pull the mask off the swamp monster, and its jwire.

About 5am, GoC was not responding at all.
Just fine now though.
 
The past couple of days the site wont even load - just blank nothingness- around 7am Atlantic

Will see about tomorrow and if a problem i will post here. (Otherwise, IBTL lol)

I suspect a Canadian denial of service attack.
As denial of service attacks go, what could be more polite than only attacking during the least used hours of the day.
 
GoC is slow again.
45 seconds to open a new thread.
 
4.5k users now.

it was slow a few min ago when it was 3.5k users.
 
We had 5k+ recently online, the IT department banned all Chinese IPs because of the slowness issues.

Hopefully we see an increase inspeed
 
It's 2am and all is well.
There are currently 206 users online. 9 members and 197 guests
 
I'm still convinced it's due to all the MSN headlines that get posted here.
