Ahem. There was a comment on this in the chat last night about what is kosher and what is not kosher. I'm far from blameless (read: will need to be sanitizing my posts on here it seems) JDMan has some comments on another thread about this place being sunshine and rainbows because of the PG13 rating.

You guys tried the bleeping out function of "bad words" but words like brass comes up pretty frequently on a gun site, so that went over like a lead balloon.

Guess I'm looking for clarification. I understand as adults we're making a concerted effort to keep things non offensive, non flaming etc but we're also human beings...

Are we going by Hayes Code or what?

Honestly I don't think any of us can be blameless for posting or saying something questionable in the past.

Its hard to come down with a base line where you can say this is good and this is bad, We don't want to impose a million page post about what is acceptable and what is not.

Its a judgement call really, sometimes our mods will help you with your judgement (and even mine and their own) to insure that anything that could really be considered out of line will be fixed.

If you think that most people would be offended We suggest you don't post it, (there is always going to be someone that "may be offended").

Aka, would you say it to a random little old lady on the street or your religious grandmother. Generally that helps a lot.

Why not simply create an "anything goes" section. Admission only after you've been registered to the site for at least a month and declare that you are at least 18 yrs of age. We did that on a car site and it was a blast.

There are alternative locations if you want to find anything goes. The site creators have a goal of a family friendly, responsible gun owner website. I, among others, like it that way.
 
In the same light, if you want pictures of naked ladies(or men - for the goc ladies), I believe there are a couple internet sites cratering to it.

BTW, There is a definition for dolphin style on urban dictionary. heh
 
If your about to post something you're unsure of, post it in OT. We try to relax the rules a bit in OT, but still don't want TnA all over the place...


Think of the main board as prime time television, and OT like late night television...
 
And don't think your gonna be infracted at every opportunity. That is not why we are here.

So far I don't think anyone but spammers have been infracted/banned.

Editing posts, with a simple email explanation is the norm for right now, as the idea is to help everyone understand what is and isn't acceptable.

If there is any question just ask.

Hey, I wasn't the one who started this thread.

You guys brought this up, which means that it's an issue. If you want to bury your heads in the sand and chant "family site, family site", more power to you. But drawing only from my own experience, creating an "anything goes" section keeps all the inevitable ruff stuff out of the mainline threads. Where it belongs.

And just not allowing a bunch of porn and drama on your site leaves that traffic for others.... It's all about defining the line bnetween being an adult and posting adult content.....
