I was day dreaming the thought of setting up a gun themed classifieds system to buy and sell guns, silver, and the sort that is more supportive - but honestly, I'm too taped out to develop my own site, especially when GOC and CGN (and a few others) already provide that service.

To that end - how about making some tweaks to the equipment exchange to make the interface more friendly to facilitate trades in Crypto currencies.

One way to do this would be to have a checkbox set (like the "Additional Options" field below new messages or advanced edits) populated with a list of currencies (i.e.: CAD, BTC, LTC, DOGE) that permits a user to select one or many currency units.

On the Exchange forums, the same way the "WTS/WTB/WTT/Plz Delete" is appended to the front of the thread title, appending the supported currencies for a trade would need to be appended, such that a thread might look something like this:

"WTB Harbl The cat's amazing gun of awesomeness (CAD,DOGE)"

A REALLY awesome feature (especially for mobile users) would be to have an optional "Price" field associated for each currency unit, such that a title might appear as:

"WTB Harbl The cat's amazing gun of awesomeness (CAD-$100,DOGE-1000) "

The complication to this is a currency prefix would have to be added for Canadian dollars, while crypto's don't really have any (at present).

To support crypto's, perhaps the User Sig/Avatar could be updated to have an optional embedded wallet QR code, or a text field for the wallet ID of a wallet, with a prefix for what kind of wallet it is (BTC, LTC, DOGE).

I think BTC, LTC, and DOGE are the main ones for now - but in the future other currencies may come online that are more popular.

One of the hardcore things you can do with this is also allow threads to be sorted by price, which would be a big plus.

One thing that Reddit has recently implemented as well is a tipping system, that allows users to send tips to one another. That would take some more research, but the idea is to encourage people who post useful content, allow other users to send them tips (doge is very popular for this) as a sign of appreciation. At the same time, some users post questions with "rewards," saying "If you answer this question first, I'll send you 5 dogecoin)".

It's a pretty clever system, actually.

The tipping is interesting,I'd go for that.
For the Marketplace, I would assume you could just ask whatever you like for your item though?
WTS/WTT Strewth's rusty .22, $400 CAD, or equivalent rare books?

I suspect as cryptos become mainstream, people will just start doing that automatically - but would it hurt to be proactive?

Most online, forum based exchanges of anything are built on the assumption that the prevailing currency is the local currency. Pretty soon, that won't be the case.
