Re: The Following User Liked This Post

The following is just my opinion, but I consider this new employment of "The Following User Liked This Post..." pseudo-posts to be both annoying and ridiculous. Pseudo-posts do not improve this forum.

Well, I suppose that it discourages useless 'agreement' posts like "Yeah" or "I agree". Lets people show support without wasting another useless post on it.

Do you think it actually takes away from the forum? I mean does it bother your or the like?

What about just displaying the number of likes?
I find the box with that info breaks up the flow of the thread.
There doesn't need to be a name attached to it unless you wish to click the number next to the likes. Just like another popular SM site.
Why can't it be changed if it proves to be unpopular?

The feature was requested by both owners and many members. The function is not customizable to be like Facebook. The forum itself is a different platform and although features can be added they will not be exactly the same.

We always take in advice from our members but this is a new feature long requested so it will be here for a bit.

I do like that it cuts down on the need for x2, lol, agree, etc, etc.... Less clutter and more meat per page. I 'like' it.

And because "+1" isn't three characters long, they feel the need to quote the entire post.
This is much better.

Actually, on another board they have the like/thank button, but it comes up in your notifications when someone likes it. It's actually kind of a nice way to carry on a conversation, you can ask a question and not need to hope they come back to the thread or PM them.
One thing that's nice about it, in the profile under the avatar, it shows how many likes under how many posts.
I think it is a better mark of "credibilty" than post count.
There are some guys with 200 posts but 600 likes.
Much different than some that have 3266 post that just piss off the populace.
Hey wait, I see some pink! ;D

If you're going to offer a "Like this" option maybe you should also offer a "Don't like this" and/or a "Not sure about this" option too.

Either way, WTF would the rest of us care about your feelings about the post?

The whole thing is just ridiculous.

I only liked the first post because it was about not liking, liking posts. :bananna:

I like that you like things. I like the liking, but I also like to give a bit of a comment besides. We seem to be getting more likes that we got +1's previously, so I'm cool to roll with it for a while.

Not sure about this

We should have an "I liked your post but probably not for the reasons you think I liked it, and I wouldn't want you to think that I agree with all your points even tho some of your points are somewhat salient, so I just wanted to make that clear" button.

That's what all the cool multiquote/bold/italic/bacon/font/emoticon/Nathan Fillion gifs/fancy colours are for?

There's no way I'd waste Nathan Fillian AND bacon on a post I didn't absolutely love. What the hell were YOU thinking?

I was thinking about eating bacon and watching Firefly for the 54th time....basically, an average evening at Casa del Strewth.
