Can someone explain what is happening here. Every day I am on here, usually in the early afternoon. Every day the pages are slow to load, around 8 to 10 seconds. And about one in ten times, I keep getting a web host error saying the web site is unreachable. It keeps that way for 30 seconds then I can access the pages again. This has been going on for a few weeks now.

Is there anything that can be done? Does the site need a new web hosting provider?

Thanks. Cheers...

Richard

There is a thread posted by JWire about the issue. It is ongoing. I believe they have a new ISP. Just some teething issues. Here is what it said:

Gun Owners of Canada would like to apologize for the ongoing server issues.
We are currently looking into the issues with a specialist, and hope to have the issues resolved in the coming month.

Thank you again for baring with us and being apart of Gun Owners of Canada

Happens to me but only once in a while not frequently like it used to.

Server and coding issues we have a specialist on board now looking into the coding and server migration to a dedicated server

OK, thanks jwirecom109. I was wondering if it was a funding issue, and we might have to raise some money or something. I must have missed that Canuck, thank you for letting me know.

Nope not funding issues.
picking the right one is the issue.
we believe we have the right system for a dedicated server now and are working on getting transfered properly after our last attempt.

Getting a lot of:

Warning: Illegal string offset 'name' in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 6988

Me too. Sometimes just a line at the top of the page that seems to load ok, but a lot of the time I get the following instead of teh page I requested:

Warning: Illegal string offset 'name' in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 6988

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at [path]/includes/class_core.php:5615) in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 4513

Just black text on an otherwise blank white page

Cheers

BTW - it wouldn't let me post due to some sort of 20 second timer. Not sure why I got that as it took me minutes to write this up!

Cheers

Remove the URL query parameter "&goto=newpost" and you'll bypass some of the server derps for new posts.

LOL - I only do new posts. can't do that, no point dropping by...

Please confirm the errors are gone and you all can navigate a bit better now, lol,

lol, thanks, Still throwing a few errors, appreciate you alls patience, this will be sorted soon, hang in there,

clicking on some of the posts and it tells me there is an error and to contact the admin

Can you point out which post or how you got that error? Screenshot would help as well if you could. I changed a few things in the php config and all errors are gone for me now, any further info you can provide will help me sort this,

I know you all have dealt with alot with the forum in the last while, am working hard to ensure this is all sorted for you to enjoy the site when you visit, the site officially transfered to a new host and dedicated server yesterday, I suspect we can work out what bugs are left remaining in the next day or two.

Couple things to try, clear your browser cache, and you shouldn't have to, but I did, in cmd prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns, this will clear any remaining chit from the old host and server cache in your browser session if it hasn't already cleared,

And we will need to upgrade the forum to the latest version of vb very soon which will completely sort the issues left over from the migration, that is in progress, so hang in there till that occurs, ;)
