GOC in a web browser on a phone is just too small and cumbersome for me (my phone is a 5" model). On my tablet it is readable, but still cumbersome. Of course if GOC would install a mobile theme that would solve the problem. And if the theme is expensive I'm sure some of us would help to crowd fund it.

          I'll check into it.

I know upgrading to V5 would do it, but V5 is a PITA and costs us monthly were as V4 is bought and paid for

Yeah I get that. "Software as a service" with a monthly fee (or yearly) is a ripoff. But in many cases it has proven a successful business model for the developers. Personally I loathe it. Can't count the number of consumer software products I've passed on because they use that pricing model.

It's the way of the future, unfortunately. Look at M$ 365 and Adobe Saa$. Managing disconnected networks is pain in the ass thanks to these cloud services.

Only where there is little competition, especially for consumer software and independent professionals. M$ 365 has LibreOffice as competition and many use that (while still many pay M$). Adobe's creative suite doesn't have much competition for drawing and images/photos in the professional space. Amateurs have other choices. And DreamWeaver is no longer the go to web editor as its biggest feature was its WYSIWYG which just doesn't work with modern websites anymore. So a plethora of open source and commercial editors have sprung up.

But as for the future I think you are correct in that software publishers are going to try to shoehorn customers (both corporate and consumer) in that direction for as long as they can get away with it. It's working well too. DND used to provide my group with CS for web development (essentially DW, PS and Acrobat Pro) which was cheaper than the whole suite. Now, thanks to SaaS, we get the entire CS suite. That's got to cost the dept a fortune. I have all that installed (I can't not have it installed) on my workstation and use just Photoshop on occasion. The bulk of my work I do in a free text editor (installed officially lol) that is lightning fast compared to DW over shared drives. I'm getting way off topic lol...

not worth the time and effort.

Easier to just pay the extortion fee for some free open source based solution.
