Complaints about the forum being slow

When I login, I get a
vBulletin Message
Invalid Redirect URL (http://gunownersofcanada.ca/)

I usually use Microsoft Edge or Firefox.
I just tried Chrome, and it made no difference at all. Same speeds, at the same spots, and the same incorrectly displayed "What's new at GOC" page.
I just tried Internet Explorer (with scripting disabled), and it made no difference at all. Same speeds, at the same spots, and the same incorrectly displayed "What's new at GOC" page.

The Redirect URL issue is a change over from http to https

I just had the same issue, I checked both before and after the link from google took me to www. no http or https, when it logged in from the www. it gave me that address but redirected me to https when logging in again it works fine.

Seems to be an old link error

Same here with slowness for the past week+.

Doesn't matter what browser I try, IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera tried all of them, same results.

Cleared cache/cookies/etc, no help.

My speed (I have Gb internet)

Seeing this also when I click "What's new..."

This site is the only site I visit that is slow/corrupted.

I can not replicate the what's new at GOC error, with my account or a testing account i just made.
Tried all browsers, i get the proper set up.

Like Doug, I'm an I.T. guy (I write software for 911 dispatch systems).

This is bizarre.... Seems like at least 3 people are seeing what I'm seeing.

I'm not using my ISP's (Rogers) DNS servers, I'm using Google's:

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

So when I have time later, I'll revert back to my ISP's DNS servers to see if that makes a difference (it really shouldn't though).

Will report back later.

PS - I also have 2 other computers besides this one, and an iPad and a Pixel 2 XL, I'll try the site from all of them as well.

It's a rare issue it seems.

I have 3 desktops running windows 10, one mac, one ipad, 2 androids and haven't been able to replicate the issue with my own computers.

For the Slow down issue, the only time I have some slow down is the huge threads like the picture thread.

I've tried via several VPN servers too, to see if its an geographical issue (yeah I know even rarer issue) with no luck

Ok, so here is what I found:

Changing DNS servers made no difference.

Tried from 2 different computers other than my desktop, an ASUS laptop and a Dell Optiplex Media PC. No change.

Tried from my iPad Pro 9.7" and my Pixel 2 XL, no change, same results.

Tried from my cellular network (same as my hard-line ISP, Rogers) on the above 2 devices, same issue again.

So.... from what I can tell about the previous posts in this thread, this seems isolated to those of us in Ontario???

Is it also isolated to those who use Rogers?????

For those of you posting about slowness and corrupted/mis-formatted "What's new...." pages, please post your geographical location and your ISP please!

There is a new update for the forum, I'll be installing that and see how that and if that changes anything.

Waiting on the host to get back to me on a couple things (don't worry it will take place over night)

No.
Someone else, and myself, are using ISP Cogeco, and noticing a speed drop for the past several weeks; although for me it got hugely better two days ago.

There was a rumor that it's only those in Southern Ontario.

I'm at the south end of Lake Simcoe. Rogers internet. This is how my current menu looks like when I hit "what's new".

On Bell in Manitoba, and things were stupid slow a few days ago.
No funny formatting or anything, just sloooow.
It would be easy to blame the XP, but it's running fine now ;D

Right now everything is working, and it's working really really fast.
Speed is best ever.

What's New: 1 second
Advanced Search: less than 1 second
Opening new threads: less than 1 second.
Making new posts with Quick Reply: 1 second
Editing existing posts: 1 second
Search for my posts: 3 seconds (that's fine)

What's new menu is correctly formatted.
Notifications Inbox menu is correctly formatted.

Well that didn't last.

"Reply with Quote" hangs. Waited a couple minutes and gave up.
"What's New on GOC" incorrectly formatted again.
Opening new threads many seconds
"Advanced Search" many seconds. "Search single content type" tab, several seconds

Well, today the slowness and the "What's new..." formating issues are back, plus a new wrinkle, the icons that allow you to format text and add pictures etc. are now gone! Sorry I cant post a picture because those icons are gone. So, not fine on Monday, fine on Tuesday but not fine today... Man Trump has a long reach :)

A small test, if you had problems before but all is well today, clear you browser's cache and see if everything's still okay

"Post Quick Reply" about 10 seconds.
"Edit Post" was quick, but SAVE hung (waited a couple minutes) and didn't save.

EDIT
"Edit Post"'s SAVE doesn't work with Microsoft Edge,
but it works just fine with Firefox.

While I thank people for letting us know about slow forum pages, the pile on of complaints without any helpful information isn't needed.

If you are having issues with the forum, we need more data then "it's Slow", at that point your just complaining.

So if something is slow, note what page it was that loaded slow, what browser your using and version, check your internet speed via http://www.speedtest.net/, what time, ect.

After clearing my browser history and changing the URL to the https version, Firefox is secure and fast with Chrome just a bit slower. Mind you Chrome seems slower on my computer for everything.

I have a new one, the "Canadian Forces Member" icon on people's names is a broken image.

This helped my scrambled formatting on mobile but wont retain the "remember me" function. Have to log in every visit.
